At the risk of sounding overly maudlin, I only blame myself for how I feel right now. I invest too much hope in things that I know will remain unrequited, and ought to remain so. One broken heart in a lifetime is already one too many. I do not want to have it break again. I have worked too damn hard and too damn long to mend it.
